opening of a salon this week, the Bollywood beauty is thrilled with her new haircut, courtesy international hairstylist Guy Kremer. “I love ...

A break, is what Tanushree is looking for, too. Aiming at changing her careergraph this year, the actor says, “I’ll start shooting for Jag Mundhra’s urban thriller, Apartment, shortly. I play a victim in the film, which also has Jimmy Sheirgill and Neetu Chandra. I played a Lara Croft-like character in Rama The Saviour, which would have released, had the recession not hit.”
With a single release last year, and a slew of box-office disasters preceding it, Tanushree reflects: “After Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Chocolate, I signed six films at one go. Some, like Dhol, worked and some didn’t. A film like Speed could have been avoided. Again, I regret turning down some scripts, which went on to become hits. Jag Mundhra’s film marks my second innings in Bollywood. After the recent controversy, I’ve decided not to work with random people.”
And does the fact that she hails from a small town, give her that extra drive? “You have to struggle to find a roof over your head. It makes you tough and gives you an iron will.” So with another steel town produce, MS Dhoni, going great guns, is she thinking of padding up for the IPL like other Bollywood heroines? “I’m not cut out for business. But I’ve been approached with show enquiries for IPL, one of which I’ll take up,” informs the glam gal, who does not rule out poll campaigning either.
What she does rule out, however, are commercial Bengali films. “Many directors approached me with Bengali masala movies, but if I do commercial films, I’d rather stick to Bollywood,” she says.
Working on her birthday tomorrow, the Piscean confesses, “As you get older, you get less excited about birthdays.” But what she is looking forward to, is shedding her single status: “In a city like Mumbai, being single is taboo! But I don’t want to get into a relationship just to have someone on my arm at parties.” Well, with her spanking new reinvented self, she won’t even have to.
