New Delhi, Mar 17 (PTI) Vansh Bhardwaj's story is similar to any Bollywood potboiler in his own words.The young theatre artiste from Chandigarh had always dreamt of having a big filmi debut with an established director and opposite a big star but it was a dream he never thought would come true.Bhardwaj was onstage doing a play when he was first spotted by internationally acclaimed director Deepa Mehta. The director of path breaking films like "Fire", "Earth" and "Water" was so impressed with his acting that she promised him a role in her next film.
"I always wanted to be famous and it is every theatre artiste's dreams that a famous director sitting in the audience will give them the big break but it came true to me," Vansh Bhardwaj, who stars opposite Preity Zinta in Deepa Mehta's film "Videsh", told PTI in an interview.
Bhardwaj always had a passion for acting and formed a theatre group "Holy Theatre" with a group friends and has spend a good 16 years of his life on stage.
Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Deepa Mehta’s much anticipated film Heaven On Earth is now titled Videsh for the Indian territory and will hit theatres this March.
The movie stars Preity Zinta along with newcomer Vansh Bhardwaj and is produced under the renowned banner of BR Films. The film has already released in Canada and has opened to an overwhelming response with Preity Zinta winning the ‘Best Actress’ award at the Chicago film festival and also getting nominated at the 29th Genie Awards (which is the Canadian equivalent to the Oscars).
Says Sanjay Bhutani, CEO of BR Films, “We did not want our Indian audiences to misinterpret the title Heaven on Earth and consider it to be an English film. Hence we changed the film’s name to Videsh as this would connect well with the Indian audiences.”
Well, that’s not all! Punjabi film enthusiasts are also in for a special treat as Videsh is going to be released in both Hindi as well as Punjabi.
